Implementation of Corporate Password Manager Based on Bitwarden — SVC Service Case Study

Implementation of Corporate Password Manager Based on Bitwarden

Project Description:

The client approached us with the need for secure storage and shared usage of credentials by employees, without dependence on third-party cloud services. SVC Service proposed a solution involving the deployment of the free Bitwarden password manager on a dedicated virtual server in the Hetzner infrastructure.

Implemented Tasks:

  • Selected and deployed a virtual server in Hetzner.
  • Installed the Ubuntu Server operating system.
  • Configured the Docker environment for isolated and secure service deployment.
  • Deployed Bitwarden in Docker containers.
  • Configured a web server for service access.
  • Issued and automated SSL certificates via Let's Encrypt.
  • Ensured secure HTTPS access to the password manager.
  • Performed basic server hardening configuration.

Tools Used:

  • Bitwarden (self-hosted)
  • Ubuntu Server
  • Docker / Docker Compose
  • Hetzner Cloud
  • Web server
  • Let's Encrypt

Project Results:

  • The client obtained a fully controlled password manager with no subscription fees.
  • Data is stored exclusively on the client's own server.
  • Enhanced the level of information security within the company.
  • Simplified access management for employees.
  • The solution is easily scalable and updatable.
