Video Surveillance Modernization and AI Analytics Implementation

Video Surveillance Modernization and AI Analytics Implementation — SVC Service Case Study

Video Surveillance Modernization and AI Analytics Implementation

Project Overview:

The client operated a video surveillance system consisting of more than 20 IP cameras and a network video recorder (NVR). Although the hardware was functional, the system no longer met modern security requirements. Security personnel ignored constant false alarms, video archives filled up too quickly, and locating critical events required significant time.

The SVC Service team performed a comprehensive system audit, optimized recording parameters, implemented AI-powered video analytics, configured intelligent event detection scenarios, and modernized the existing infrastructure without replacing all cameras. For selected facilities, Ajax Superior NVR was deployed, enabling advanced AI capabilities for existing ONVIF/RTSP cameras.

Initial Challenges:

  • Large number of false alarms caused by traditional motion detection.
  • Operators stopped responding to push notifications.
  • Insufficient video archive retention period.
  • Slow investigation and event search.
  • High network bandwidth consumption during remote viewing.
  • No intelligent object recognition.
  • Limited modernization budget.
  • Need to integrate surveillance with the security alarm system.

Project Objectives:

  • Reduce false alarms.
  • Improve security personnel efficiency.
  • Increase video archive retention.
  • Optimize network utilization.
  • Introduce AI-based human and vehicle detection.
  • Accelerate incident search.
  • Reuse existing camera infrastructure.
  • Increase overall system reliability.

Solution Architecture:

Following a detailed assessment, the entire surveillance logic was redesigned. Traditional pixel-based motion detection was replaced with AI-powered analytics and intelligent event scenarios. Existing ONVIF/RTSP cameras were integrated with Ajax Superior NVR, providing advanced object recognition without replacing the installed cameras.

  • Smart Motion Detection (SMD) configuration.
  • AI-based Human and Vehicle classification.
  • IVS Tripwire and Intrusion detection rules.
  • Exclusion of permanent noise zones.
  • H.265+ and Smart H.264 optimization.
  • Main Stream and Sub Stream configuration.
  • GOP and 3D DNR optimization.
  • Night mode and Smart IR tuning.
  • Ajax Superior NVR deployment.
  • Industrial microSD edge storage backup.
  • Integration with Ajax Security ecosystem.

Completed Tasks:

  • Complete surveillance system audit.
  • Video stream optimization.
  • AI analytics implementation.
  • Perimeter and intelligent detection zone configuration.
  • Storage optimization.
  • Network traffic reduction.
  • Fast event search implementation.
  • Local backup recording configuration.
  • Integration with Ajax alarm system.
  • Comprehensive system testing.

Technologies Used:

  • Dahua, Hikvision, Uniview and ONVIF/RTSP IP cameras
  • Ajax Superior NVR
  • Smart Motion Detection (SMD)
  • IVS (Tripwire & Intrusion)
  • AI Human & Vehicle Detection
  • H.265+, Smart H.264
  • Main Stream / Sub Stream
  • 3D DNR & Smart IR
  • JetSparrow Video Streaming
  • Industrial microSD Edge Storage
  • Ajax Security Platform

Project Results:

  • Reduced false alarms by more than 90%.
  • Extended archive retention from 9–10 days to over 30 days.
  • Reduced incident search time from tens of minutes to just 1–3 minutes.
  • Cut network bandwidth consumption by more than half.
  • Enabled AI-based human and vehicle recognition.
  • Improved remote video streaming performance.
  • Implemented redundant local recording.
  • Unified video surveillance and intrusion detection into a single platform.
  • Avoided the cost of replacing existing IP cameras.
  • Significantly improved overall physical security.

This project demonstrates that modern video surveillance depends not only on camera quality but also on intelligent software configuration and proper system architecture. By combining AI analytics with Ajax Superior NVR, SVC Service transformed an outdated surveillance system into a modern, reliable, and cost-effective security solution without replacing existing cameras.
